In the study published on the American Journal of Therapeutics, scientists explain that some varieties of these small (but still delicious) red fruits would be a natural source of melatonin, which is the sleep hormone. Their red pigment would also help increase the availability of tryptophan, an essential amino acid, initiator of serotonin (which regulates mood, emotion and sleep). We understand, it is therefore far from a coincidence that cherries are a good asset against insomnia … we will try!
